Genuine Origin and Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity Partner for Roaster Village Booth

United States-based green coffee trading company Genuine Origin and the Coffee Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity (CCRE) are partnering for a booth to boost Black-owned coffee roasting business at the upcoming Specialty Coffee Expo in New Orleans.

The booth will be sponsored by New York-based Genuine Origin, while participating businesses will be selected by the CCRE, the nonprofit formed last year to promote racial equity and diversity in the coffee industry through strategic partnerships.

Up to six Black-owned coffee businesses may be invited to share the booth at the Expo, which is typically the largest annual event of the intercontinental Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).

The booth will be part of the Roaster Village, a section of the trade show that debuted in 2017 and is dedicated to coffee roasting companies seeking to develop relationships with wholesale buyers and generally promote their brands.

“We’re grateful for Genuine Origin’s support at this year’s Expo,” CCRE Founder and Chair of CCRE Phyllis Johnson said in an announcement today. “Their support provides Black-owned coffee companies visibility, opportunities for networking, education and growth. Our success in building racial equity can only be achieved through joint efforts such as this.”

Use of the booth will be free to selected businesses, but the sponsorship does not cover typical ancillary costs for attending the show such as transportation, lodging or registration. Roasters interested in participating are encouraged to reach out to the CCRE asap via Instagram DM (@coffeeforequity) or via email at [email protected].
