12th Annual Grounds for Health Auction Underway with 23 High-End CoffeesFFOL Editor 1
The 12th Annual Grounds for Health auction is in full swing, with a broad range of high-quality coffees from renowned producer groups available for public bidding.
The auction represents a major fundraising effort for the nonprofit Grounds for Health, which works to prevent cervical cancer among women in coffee-producing communities through screening and prevention programming.
At least 15 green coffee trading companies — including reputable specialty coffee importers, exporters and producer groups — have graciously donated small quantities of 23 high-quality, single-origin green coffees for the auction effort. Quantities range from one bag to nine 60-kilo bags, while the coffees hail from revered growing regions and producer groups in the Americas, Africa and Southeast Asia.
Grounds for Health Director of Philanthropy Kyle Engelman told DCN that the annual Grounds for Health Auction (promoted as #GFHAuction) is a treasured part of GFH’s annual operations, not only for the financial support it generates, but for the display of generosity within the industry.
“Over the past 12 years, the auctions have brought in almost $1 million,” she said. “That money goes to educating and providing health services to the women who grow your coffee and care for their families and communities at origin. We are deeply grateful and honored to consider ourselves part of an industry that values these women.”
Bidding kicked off on the morning of Wednesday, June 9, and the auction will close on Thursday, June 10, at 3 p.m. PDT. You can participate in the auction here.
