When you are looking up health benefits of coconut, you probably get a lot of recommendations for coconut oil and occasionally learn about how you can drink more coconut water. However, don’t forget about coconut milk. There are lots of ways to use the milk from a coconut that is also going to help with your overall health and vitality.
Add Coconut Milk to Your Breakfast Foods
A popular way to start having more coconut milk is by adding it to your different breakfast foods. For example, if you like to have a morning bowl of cereal with fruit slices, you can use coconut milk instead of regular milk or almond milk in the cereal. You can also use coconut milk when making your oatmeal, whether you go the instant route or you soak it overnight with real oats. It will give it a sweet, slightly nutty flavor that is really hard to pass up. If you like granola in your yogurt, you can soften it by soaking it in a little bit of coconut milk.
Make Some Healthy Pudding
Pudding is great because it can be a snack, healthy and low-fat dessert, or a quick breakfast. Make a batch of pudding beforehand that is not only healthier, but incorporates some coconut milk as well. While you can make any type of pudding with coconut milk, one of the preferred varieties is chia pudding. This gives it a sweet flavor so it feels like you are indulging in a dessert, but in actuality you are having a really healthy pudding by combining chia seeds and coconut milk.
Soften Your Zoodles
If you like to have zoodles, which are pasta noodles made from vegetables like zucchini and other squash, then you will love adding some coconut milk to them. What the coconut milk is going to do is soften them. So you first start by using your vegetable spiralizer to make the zoodles, then put them in a bowl with coconut milk. Let them soak for a few minutes, then strain out the milk. Another option is to use the coconut milk to make a type of white cream sauce that is much healthier for the pasta noodles.
Add it to Hot Drinks
You can also make some hot drinks and add your coconut milk. This replaces other types of milk, adds more nutrients to the drink, and adds a nutty flavor to it as well. Coconut is great when added to hot cocoa, coffee, and tea.
Keep in mind this is a very small collection of ways you can use coconut milk. You can replace regular milk in most recipes with coconut milk and it will turn out great.
