Emily Ratajkowski Returns to the Cover of Marie Claire for June 2018
We’ve been notoriously hard on the American edition of Marie Claire over the years (with good reason) but the magazine has a newfound confidence following a series of terrific covers featuring the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Reese Witherspoon and Alicia Vikander and has regained the attention of theFashionSpot forums. For June 2018, US Marie Claire welcome back Emily Ratajkowski as its cover girl, photographed by Thomas Whiteside for the occasion. Throughout the accompanying cover shoot, the Kérastase brand ambassador was styled by Deborah Watson and wears a checked Burberry hat teamed with a Ralph Lauren shirt in the laid-back cover image.
The cover received mixed reviews from our forum members. “She’s pretty covered up for someone who walks around barely clothed most of the time! Looks like a fall cover, not summer,” pointed out Handbag Queen the moment the cover came to light.
“Does look like an autumn cover, but all I see is messy hair. The minimal art direction is lovely, but this cover is a pass for me. Too basic for June,” Benn98 chimed in.
“Wasn’t expecting to like this but it’s actually a nice cover,” confessed 333101. “The soft lighting is very autumnal but she looks more interesting than usual. I’ll even refrain from complaining about that Burberry bucket hat!”
Srdjan was liking what he was seeing too: “I think it’s cute and it suits Emily. Or Emrata suits this.”
“The Burberry hat is giving me wonderful flashbacks to the cover of Vogue Paris for August 2009 with Daria Werbowy, I like it! The American edition of Marie Claire‘s done some great things lately and even though they’ve adopted the Vogue Paris fonts – it’s working in their favor. Another solid cover this month, if you ask me!” forum member vogue28 approved.
