Update on Jude
2 weeks ago, we learned that our 11 year old dog, Jude, has cancer. We are completely devastated to share this news, but remain hopeful. Jude had a cancerous tumor removed in surgery this week, which was a palliative treatment to make him more comfortable and keep him thriving as best he can. Our vet said Jude is in incredible shape otherwise, especially given his age. He loves going on short walks, he plays with his tennis ball, rolls on his back, and plays tug with Franklin. We believe we caught the tumor early. He’s recovering from surgery now. (These photos are from before the procedure, of course.) Hopefully we will know more information about the cancer after the tumor is analyzed. It has been an incredibly hard two weeks for our family. We remain confident that our happy Jude has plenty more love and life to give. If you’d like to follow along, I have an Instagram account for my dogs. (Would you expect anything else?!)
It’s difficult to put into words how much our dogs, Jude and Franklin, mean to my husband, our daughter, and I. They are so much more than pets– they’re our family.
Remember when Jude came to some book tour stops in 2015? ?
NYC Cooking Demo
Before the whirlwind 2 weeks, I had a book signing and cooking demo at DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections. Such a fun trip! I brought along two of my wonderful team members, Stephanie and Hilari. Besides the cooking demo event, we explored the city and ate at The Beet Table and The Loring Place with Kristen, DŌ’s owner. Highly recommend both restaurants!
A couple months ago, I posted about a fun cooking demo event and book signing. The cooking demo was a ticketed event with a limited group due to space. We baked giant chocolate chip cookies together and walked through the entire process all inside the fabulous DŌ bakery. What a morning!
25% of the ticket sales were donated to a non-profit that’s very special to me, For Goodness Cakes. ?
Afterwards I signed cookbooks, which was open to everyone. This event was such a fun success that we’re thinking about doing it again in December. Since the space is limited for the cooking demo, I could do two demos! Would you be interested?
Forever my favorite cookie dough flavor: Heavenly. ♥ ♥ ♥
Have you ever been to DŌ?? We got to spend a lot of time with the DŌ team and everyone is just as sweet as their confections. What a weekend!
Hello, Cookie Dough Cookbook
Speaking of DŌ and the fabulous owner, Kristen Tomlan, I absolutely have to spill the beans on her upcoming cookbook, Hello, Cookie Dough. Kristen has become one of my dearest friends and she let me see a sneak peek at the book earlier this year. I’m being 100% honest when I say that this is the cookbook OF THE DECADE. Wow. Edible cookie dough that you can eat or bake into cookies, plus dozens of baked treats all centered around cookie dough. She teaches us how to use heat-treated flour so all cookie dough is safe to consume. Gorgeous pictures for every single recipe and plenty of baking tips, tricks, and advice too.
She’s incredibly inspiring. I’m always honored to support fellow hardworking women!
The book comes out in October, but you can pre-order at the sale price now. I’m very excited to share a recipe and more about the book around the release date!

Sprinkle Running Shoes
There was a little sprinkle of happy in the mail last week. After a reader sent me a link to these sprinkle sneaks, I immediately ordered them. I’ve seriously never purchased something offline quicker. I’m a runner and have trusted Brooks for my running shoes for over 10 years. That being said, I don’t find these best for running. Compared to their Glycerin, in which I usually run, the sprinkle shoes felt a little clunky. For me, they’re more of a casual every day shoe. But that’s fine with me because I’ve literally been wearing these EVERY DAY.
The shoelaces! How can you not smile?
New Email Series?!
Are you on my email subscriber list? I launched a Baking Made Easy email series at the end of last year and am ready to launch a few more with all sorts of varying (and completely new) content including cake baking, pie making, cookies, fall baking, holiday cookies, and more. This is all completely free and really just a way for me to connect with readers that isn’t through social media. I have some bonus email-subscriber-only content up my sleeve, too!
Anyway, the Baking Made Easy email series is the only one I have right now, but stay tuned for more. I’ll announce them on my blog!

Recipe Reshoots
I’ve been working on new fall recipes as well as updating photos from my blog archives. I recently re-photographed oatmeal M&M cookies and s’mores chocolate chip cookies.
I just finished up the prep for the September Baking Challenge and am currently working on revamping my Recipe Page so it’s easier to find my recipes! I know I have tons of them and sometimes it’s hard to find what you’re looking for. Stay tuned!
August Baking Challenge
August Baking Challenge recipe: Vertical Cake
August’s baking challenge recipe is definitely one of my favorites so far. It’s a more difficult recipe, which is why I love it. Depending on your skill level, you are truly challenging yourself with this one! It look me weeks of recipe testing to perfect it, so learn from my mistakes and follow the recipe closely. This one is so fun to serve, too.
I LOVE seeing your vertical creations this month!!
Thanks for reading and have a relaxing weekend!
